ABOUT DIVASKA CAVE
The Divaska Cave lies near The Divaca-Lokev road and is approximately one
kilometer distant from town Divaca. It was discovered in 1884 by the local
Gregor Žiberna. Three years later, the cave was arranged for tourist visits.
Almost entire cave is richly decorated with calcite formations that have
developed through its geological history. The cave shelters numerous
species of cave animals and other forms of life. In the past, the cave
was visited by many prominent personalities. Especially worth mentioning
are Rudolf of Hapsburg, Crown prince of Austria, whose name the cave
bore for some time, and the famous psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud. The
walkway in the cave is well-maintained and illuminated and thus
suitable for visitors of all ages. It is approximately 500 m long. The
temperature in the cave is 8°c/49°f.

WHO ARE WE
Od ustanovitve dalje je poslanstvo Jamarskega društva “Gregor Žiberna”
Divača tudi skrb za turistični razvoj Divaške jame. To delo si jemljemo kot
dolžnost, saj društvo nosi ime prvo pristopnika in doživljenskega vodnika
po Divaški jami.
Že takoj po ustanovitvi društva, leta 1965 so bili izdelani prvi načrti za
obnovitev in ureditev porušenega vhoda v Divaško jamo in obuditev
zamrlega jamskega turizma. Dve leti kasneje, leta 1967, je društvo že
organiziralo ogled Divaške jame, kamor so popeljali Joška Žiberno. Ta je
bil v njej že leta 1926, ko ga je vodil sorodnik Gregor Žiberna – Tentava.
Prvo temeljitejše urejanje vhoda se je pričelo leta 1974. Več o delovanju

wonderful
opportunity for a half day trip.
